Murray Edelman, Edelman Research Consultants. A Distinguished Survey Research Scholar at Rutgers, Murray has had a 35-year career as a researcher on elections and public opinion. He is currently a trustee of the National Council of Public Polls. He received a BS from the University of Illinois and, in 1973, a Ph.D. in Human Development from the University of Chicago.

Murray has been politically active since the late 60’s as one of the first Gay Liberation activists and was co-founder of Faerie Circle (1975-8) and part of the Radical Faeries that followed. He is an Inductee into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame (2008) for co-founding and leading the city of Chicago Gay Liberation Movement (1969-72). As a consultant he was head of exit poll and projections for a pool of ABC,CBS,CNN,FOX, NBC, and the AP (1993-2003). Past President (2000-01) of the American Association of Public Opinion. A visiting distinguished Professor at Eagleton Institute of Politics, Rutgers University (2005-6). Received the American Association for Public Opinion Research (NYAAPOR) Outstanding Achievement Award. 

Currently Murray is the President of the Board for the Naraya Cultural Preservation Council which supports the communities and leadership of the Dance For All People — a ceremony based in traditions of the Great Basin Indigenous people.
